New Jersey Mortgage Company Offers Five Tips for Improving Your Credit in Order to Buy a Home

SOMERSET, NJ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 2, 2007 -- You may be in the market for a home this year but aren't sure if you would qualify for a loan because of a poor credit history. Bruno Viscariello, President of First Hallmark Mortgage Corporation in Somerset, New Jersey, says you can improve your credit and get the home of your dreams.

Viscariello says, "Sometimes it's just a matter of changing your habits. Use cash or a debit card instead of a credit card. Once you've gotten yourself into trouble with credit cards, you can get out of it. It is not hopeless by any means."

Viscariello offers five tips on how to improve your credit:

-- Pay Bills on Time - If you pay your bills on time, your credit score
-- Buy Essential Items Only - Don't buy items that you don't need. By
only purchasing necessities, you will be less likely to run up your credit
-- Live Within Your Means - Only spend what you have available. This
will prevent you from growing credit card debt.
-- Know Your Credit Report - Pay attention to what is on your credit
report and resolve any discrepancies as they come up. The more accurate
your credit report, the better off you are.
-- Leave Credit Cards at home - Don't carry your credit cards with you.
Take them out of your wallet or only carry one for an emergency. If you
don't have them with you, you can't use them.
There also programs specifically designed to help those with poor credit or bankruptcy to purchase a home. First Hallmark Mortgage Corporation offers The Home Advantage program which allows customers 100 percent financing or the ability to put 3% down on a home.
