NEW John Paul II Tribute Song/Video by Award-Winning Canadian Artist

"Being face-to-face with Pope John Paul II made me understand why thousands of youth were attracted to him." Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Assignment Editor, Lifestyle Editor, News Editor, World News Editor EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - April 7, 2005) - After singing for John Paul II and 40,000 at the Vatican, Janelle had a surprise meeting with the Pope. Janelle stated, "I could see his wrinkled face, his tired body, yet there was and undeniable peace and sparkle in his eyes. I was moved to tears knowing he had made every moment count in this life and in the life to come. As he put his hand on my face, I knew I wanted that same peace and undoubting purpose for my life. I now know why the youth were attracted to him: our hearts were made for and by God; this man lived for God alone."

Wanting to do something in memory of Pope John Paul II, award-winning Christian pop diva Janelle was compelled to share this man's purpose and life with others with a NEW tribute project.

'Be Not Afraid' is an interactive John Paul II tribute CD that contains English, French and Spanish versions of Janelle's tribute song. Armed with youthful enthusiasm and a powerful voice akin to Celine Dion, 'Be Not Afraid (Open Wide Your Heart)' will knock you out when the first chorus kicks in. The interactive part of the CD contains a music video with clips of the Pope, photos of the Pope and Janelle, a letter from the Vatican, the full story behind the song, and more. CD's can be purchased at

Janelle, now 24, was selected to sing the World Youth Day Theme song in Toronto before close to one million people live and over one billion on TV. Janelle has been to the Vatican to sing and meet Pope John Paul II. Janelle and her debut album, 'New Day' have received numerous awards including New Artist of the Year (VIBE Awards 2003) and Best Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year (COVENANT Awards 2003). Since the Pope's passing, Janelle has been featured on NBC Dateline, and numerous Canadian television and radio programs.
