New Junction Zone Takes Shape at Cassidy Gold's Kouroussa Gold Project, Guinea

KAMLOOPS, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 19, 2006) - Cassidy Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:CDY) is pleased to announce further results from ongoing reverse circulation (RC) and aircore drilling on its 100% owned Kouroussa Project, located in Guinea, West Africa. At the new Junction Zone 400 metres south of X-Vein and 2.5 kilometres northwest of the Sanu Filanan Zone, 2 RC holes, KRC757 & KRC758, scissored KRC748 (2.09 g/t Au over 71.0 metres), intersecting 1.24 g/t Au over 24.0 metres and 0.97 g/t Au over 23.0 metres, respectively. Approximately 180 metres along strike to the southwest, a fence of three holes intersected a broad zone of mineralization including 33.0 metres assaying 1.70 g/t in KRC759, 11.0 metres at 1.20 g/t Au in KRC760, and 2 intervals of 5.0 metres each assaying 1.80 and 1.17 g/t Au in KRC761 (see Table 1).

Junction Zone

The Junction Zone, situated 400 metres south of X-Vein and 1 kilometre northeast of the broadly mineralized Sodyanfe Zone, was discovered by a series of aircore drill holes testing a broad soil geochemical anomaly south of X-Vein (see Cassidy Gold Corp. News Release - December 22, 2005). The main body of mineralization appears to strike toward the southwest and dip moderately to the southeast. Several other mineralized intersections are noted outside this zone, including 30.21 g/t Au over 5.0 metres in KRC752, 100 metres to the west.

RC drilling continues in the Junction Zone area. A total of 18 RC drill holes totalling 1606 metres and 35 air core holes totalling 1608 metres have been completed to-date on the Junction Zone. Aircore and RC drills are testing the potentially mineralized trend from Sidafa Hill southwest to the Bag Farm Zone at Sodyanfe, a distance of approximately 3 kilometres. Updated location maps will be posted on www.cassidygold.com shortly.

Kinkine Zone

An air core drill has completed several fences of holes across the Kinkine soil geochemical anomaly located 5 kilometres northeast of the Sanu Filanan Zone. Highlights include 1.80 g/t Au over 8.0 metres and 0.73 g/t Au over 28.0 metres in KRAB265, 1.52 g/t Au over 7.0 metres in KRC270 (hole stopped in mineralization), 8.08 g/t Au over 4.0 metres in KRC315. Significant results are tabulated in Table 2. Previous air core drill results from Kinkine included 1.03 g/t Au over 32.0 metres in KRAB254 and 1.82 g/t Au over 23.0 metres in KRAB255.

As of January 15th, a total of 4327 metres in 77 drill holes have tested an area of significant past artisanal mining activity. Results for all drill hole samples have now been received. Additional aircore drilling will attempt to define the extent of the zone shortly. The RC drill will be moved in to follow-up on these very significant aircore results to further assess the resource potential of the zone.

Planned Program

Currently, RC and aircore drilling are testing the Bag Farm (Sodyanfe) to Junction Zone trend. Once complete, the RC drill will resume resource drilling at Sanu Folo, before moving to Kinkine and Manie. Aircore drilling will focus immediately northeast of the Junction Zone, then back to Kinkine before heading to untested anomalies at Benegban, Dalaoule, Banjounani, and elsewhere. Soil geochemical sampling continues at Tambiko East and Karikarissa, 10 and 30 kilometres northeast of Sanu Filanan, respectively. Regolith mapping of the prospect areas is also continuing. Airborne magnetics and radiometrics data collected by Fugro in December has been received. Interpretation and target analysis studies are in progress.

Sampling and Assay Procedures

RC and aircore drill samples were collected from the cyclone and split or pipe sampled to 1 kilogram size. All samples were sent to the SGS analytical laboratory in Siguiri, Guinea for fire assay using a 50-gram subsample. Samples assaying greater than 5 g/t gold are reassayed using a metallics screen technique. Repeat assays are made on every 25th sample, and duplicates and blanks are submitted, one each in every 20 samples. Quality control/quality assurance is closely monitored by RSG Global personnel.

Cassidy Gold Corp News Release dated December 22, 2005 erroneously reported that RAB (Rotary Air Blast) drilling was conducted on the Kouroussa Project. In fact, all reported RAB drilling is Aircore.

Personnel

The exploration team in Guinea is headed by Project Manager Nick Hewson of RSG Global. Christopher J. Wild, P.Eng, VP Exploration for Cassidy Gold Corp., is the Qualified Person for this release.
