New OPEN MINDS Report Shares Unique Data on Child Welfare Spending in Each State

GETTYSBURG, PA--(Marketwired - March 08, 2016) - In a newly released Market Intelligence Report, OPEN MINDS shares unique data about state spending on child welfare services. The report provides detail on spending on child welfare services, including a state-by-state breakdown of spending by congregate care, family foster care, and other services and supports -- as well as a look at family foster care rates. According to the report, the United States spent $28.2 billion on child welfare services in FY2012, the latest year data is available. The OPEN MINDS team then used state estimated expenditures from FY2013 to conclude that $22.9 billion dollars were traceable to spending on administrative costs and direct service provisions. Of that $22.9 billion, 24% was spent on foster care administrative services and 76% were spent on the provision of direct services.
