New Ownership Commences Redevelopment of 1102 Grand Boulevard, Kansas City, MO

KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwire - Feb 20, 2013) - New owners, Amerimar Enterprises and Hunter Newby, have commenced redevelopment of 1102 Grand, Kansas City's carrier hotel. Since acquiring the property in October 2012, the joint venture partnership between seasoned real estate developer, Amerimar Enterprises, and Joint Venture Partner at 1102 Grand, Hunter Newby, have established a masterplan for the building. The plan seeks to reinforce 1102 Grand's position as the pre-eminent carrier hotel in the region.

The partnership has commenced a complete overhaul of the electrical and cooling infrastructure. Beginning with the electrical plant, a permit has been secured for two additional two-Megawatt generators and has commenced construction on the first new generator. During the installation of the new generators, the partnership will be simultaneously increasing the incoming electrical service at the property by 66% to 5 MVA. All electrical plant construction, from incoming service to the new generator plant, is designed with a focus on cutting-edge, redundant technology, necessary to meet the needs of the customers at 1102 Grand.

"These infrastructure improvements are in response to existing customer growth and robust new demand we are seeing in the market," states Gerald Marshall, CEO of Amerimar Enterprises and Owner of 1102 Grand.

1102 Grand will also be upgrading its cooling system, which will include significant capacity increases, as well as redundancy at each level from origination to delivery. The building will also benefit from a full façade repointing and selective replacement and resealing of windows. With these improvements, the new owners seek to secure the building envelope and eliminate any potential points of intrusion that could compromise the data center operations.

"Kansas City is booming with innovative business opportunities and pushing the limits of telecommunication network capacity and as 1102 Grand is the City's carrier hotel, these building improvements are necessary to foster continued growth," states Hunter Newby, Joint Venture Partner at 1102 Grand. "We look forward to strengthening the building's infrastructure and providing connectivity options for the many growing companies in the region."

As a state of the art data center operation, the partnership will also be upgrading the building management systems to monitor all security, fire alarm, fire suppression, cooling and power systems from one central command center, which will also be available remotely.

1102 Grand has also made improvements to its technical support team. 1102 has nearly doubled the size of its support team and is continuing to focus on providing top level security. The entire project would not have been possible without the support of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and the leadership of the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority, which have authorized the public-private partnership necessary to reinvigorate this historic structure.
