New Partnership Between Islandia Hotel and Zipcar Revs Up Guest Excitement

The Islandia Marriott Long Island Gives Visitors the Keys to Independence

ISLANDIA, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 8, 2014) - The automobile may have risen to glory because of the freedom it and the open road once represented. Nowadays, however, freedom is less about ownership and more about access. With this in mind, the Islandia Marriott Long Island has teamed up with Zipcar, an innovative car sharing company, to provide two cars and limitless travel options for guests' use. And the result is as exciting as the open road.

Designed to afford all the conveniences of a car without the responsibilities of ownership, Zipcar enables members to reserve a car on an hourly or daily basis. While the company offers its services in hundreds of cities throughout North America and in Europe, its partnership with this Islandia hotel affords travelers in particular the unprecedented benefit of carefree mobility.

As of September 19, 2014, Zipcar members staying at the hotel now have access to two vehicles. The first is, "Cuzzi," a 2014 Honda Civic that's available for as little as $9.25 per hour or $84 per day. The second is the larger 2014 Nissan Altima "Arntz," a spacious sedan for just $14 per hour on weekdays and $16 per hour on the weekends. To become a Zipcar member for as little as $6 per month, visit www.zipcar.com.

"You can't imagine how excited I am for this new relationship between the Islandia Marriott and Zipcar," said Damien Hirsch, the hotel's general manager. "Our guests are now just an elevator ride away from local restaurants, shops, beaches, the Hamptons, NYC and more."

While the car sharing partnership may be unique among Hauppauge, Long Island hotels, it underscores this property's commitment to eco-friendly initiatives. (The hotel, for example, maintains a GreenLeader position with TripAdvisor by adhering to specific, environmentally-sensitive protocols.) In addition to guests renting their own cars, Zipcar members staying at the Islandia Marriott can now reserve a set of wheels when they want to explore nearby attractions. This option is particularly attractive to conference delegates who spend much of their visit on property, as well as those who want to save themselves the gas, money, insurance, contracts and the hassle of traditional rentals when they only need a car for a couple of hours.

"Zipcar strives to place cars where our members live, work, play and travel, and the Islandia Marriott is a perfect example of that," said Zipcar New York general manager, Anthony Fatone. "We look forward to kicking off this partnership to provide Marriott guests an affordable, convenient and fun transportation option to explore Long Island on their own time."

With the hotel's location offering easy access to Stony Brook University, Jones Beach and even Manhattan, there's always someplace exciting nearby to discover. Zipcar just makes it easier than ever to do so.
