New Partnership Brings Free Programming to Individuals With Special Needs in South Jersey

WEST BERLIN, NJ--(Marketwired - February 04, 2015) - The SAMBULANCE Safety Squad, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting safety education in the special needs community, has signed a partnership with Parents of Autistic Children, or POAC. The partnership entails a joint effort to reach individuals with special needs in South Jersey.

The partnership between the SAMBULANCE and POAC includes: complimentary training sessions, recreational evenings to engage the special needs community and a Walk-A-Thon fundraiser to further their joint programming.

"We are really excited to team up with POAC," said Annie Peters, Executive Director of the SAMBULANCE Safety Squad. "The partnership is a perfect fit for two New Jersey-based organizations with a common goal; empowering individuals with special needs."

The SAMBULANCE Safety Squad brings their complimentary educational safety programming to individuals with special needs at schools and organizations. The programming focuses on 9-1-1 scenarios, first aid and recognizing safety officials. Since 2012, the SAMBULANCE Safety Squad has reached over 60,000 students across the state.

Like the SAMBULANCE, POAC supports the special needs community and provides training, services, outreach and support for individuals with autism and their families.

This Spring, the two non-profits will begin hosting their free training sessions; including a workshop for preschools and early intervention providers focused on autism recognition, addressing concerns to parents and best teaching practices as well as "Hidden Dangers," a training program for parents to help keep children with developmental disabilities safe in the home, at school and in the community.

The training sessions, recreational evenings and October 4th Walk-A-Thon will all take place at Sahara Sam's Oasis; who serves as a community partner of the SAMBULANCE Safety Squad.
