New PowerStream Conservation Initiative Targets Businesses

Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program introduced at information breakfast

YORK REGION, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 13, 2007) - PowerStream introduced a new conservation program today that provides financial incentives to business customers who are able to reduce their electricity consumption by implementing equipment and system upgrades that are energy efficient.

More than 100 business customers from PowerStream's service territory attended an information breakfast at the Sheraton Parkway Hotel in Richmond Hill where they learned about the Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP), a conservation initiative supported by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA).

The ERIP program is being offered as a means to help businesses choose the most energy efficient equipment upgrades rather than others that are less energy-efficient but may be viewed as necessary due to financing or timing issues. The program incentives assist business customers in proceeding with upgrades which utilize the most energy efficient technologies, equipment and systems.

"By taking advantage of the Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program, our business customers can play an important role in using electricity wisely through the use of new energy efficient technologies," said Brian Bentz, PowerStream President and CEO. "A key objective for us is to encourage energy conservation and load management among our business customers. Offering incentives for sustainable and measurable energy retrofits through ERIP helps us achieve that objective."

ERIP focuses on lighting, motors, ventilation, air conditioning and overall electricity system upgrades. Financial incentives, which start at $150 per kilowatt saved, are available for preapproved projects that result in measurable energy savings. These projects may be completed using energy efficient technologies as outlined by the program or may be based on innovative custom initiatives.

ERIP has been developed by the OPA as an initiative for local electricity distribution companies, like PowerStream, to offer their business customers. A major focus for the OPA and PowerStream is to provide programs that encourage better conservation and demand management of electricity. By reducing peak demand, participating businesses will contribute to the increased security of the overall supply of electricity in Ontario.

PowerStream business customers can learn more about ERIP on the company's website at www.powerstream.ca/erip or by calling 1-877-963-6900.
