New projects for Microbrasserie du Lac-Saint-Jean

SAINT-GÉDÉON, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 26, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that Microbrasserie du Lac-Saint-Jean has been granted financial assistance for the acquisition and installation of strategic equipment and for the refurbishment of its facilities.

This support is being awarded in the form of a $300,000 repayable financial contribution through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

• Located on Saint-Gédéon's Route de la Plage since 2007, Microbrasserie du Lac-Saint-Jean produces unique and distinctive craft beers that have won numerous national and international prizes, notably as a result of its research and development activities.
• The company's products are distributed to some 100 points of purchase in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region and another 20 elsewhere in Quebec.
• The project will help the microbrewery become more competitive, improve productivity and increase its production capacity in order to meet the growing demand from distributors.
• This assistance from the government will also serve to refurbish the company's production area.
