New Radio Magazine, TOWN HALL Journal, Premieres Sept 13 on 89.3 FM KPCC

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - September 10, 2009) - TOWN HALL Los Angeles' weekly radio magazine "TOWN HALL Journal" debuts on 89.3 FM KPCC, Sunday, September 13, at 9:00 PM. A half-hour news magazine, "TOWN HALL Journal" is an in-depth look into issues important to Angelenos. Hosted by veteran ABC News Correspondent, Judy Muller, the broadcast will share the best ideas of recent speakers and dip into the "Vault of Speakers-Past," providing insight into the city's history.

"TOWN HALL Los Angeles has been the forum for world leaders and voice of Angelenos since 1937. With this radio magazine, we bring the issues and solutions discussed at TOWN HALL to all Angelenos through weekly broadcasts, web streaming and podcasting, courtesy of our partner, KPCC. In essence, our programs are now available to the public on-demand," said Jon Goodman, PhD, president of TOWN HALL. "The 'Journal' maintains our nonpartisan tradition by exploring the conflicts raised at our events with the guidance of accomplished journalist, Judy Muller."

The "Journal" enhances TOWN HALL's live events by investigating the critical issues facing LA -- a city often called the Ellis Island of the 21st century. Muller brings her independent eye to exploring the city's accelerating transformation. She is a faculty member of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and an Emmy Award-winning television correspondent and National Public Radio commentator. On ABC's "Nightline" team, she received an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for coverage of the 1992 Los Angeles riots and an Emmy Award for coverage of the OJ Simpson murder trial.

Southern California Public Radio is a member-supported public radio network that operates 89.3 KPCC-FM in Los Angeles and Orange County, 89.1 KUOR-FM in the Inland Empire and 90.3 KPCV in the Coachella Valley. Reaching more than 600,000 listeners weekly, SCPR is the most listened to public radio news service in Southern California.

TOWN HALL Los Angeles has been a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization since 1937, supported by Angelenos, foundations and corporations who believe in open public discussion. We advocate for no side, represent no particular ideology and stand solidly in support of free speech, civility and a belief that knowledge is a priceless commodity.
