New Recreation Vehicles Offer Economical and Efficient Features

Detroit Camper & RV Show Opens Today

NOVI, MI--(Marketwire - February 11, 2009) - RV vacations remain the most economical way to vacation, costing 26 to 74 percent less than travel by personal car, airline or cruise ship. Today's manufacturers are making great strides in providing additional economical and efficient features for an even more affordable vacation.

The teardrop-shaped Mojo from Hi-Lo Trailer Co. is a 1,400 lb. travel trailer that 56 different kinds of cars can tow, so you don't need to upgrade your modest-sized car to haul an RV. The Mojo is 84 inches tall and 16 feet long, so it should fit into nearly any garage, saving consumers the cost of storing their RV and preventing any potential damage from the outside elements. Despite its compact size, the Mojo still contains a kitchen and bed area.

Traditional gas motorhomes get 7 to 10 mpg. Gulfstream has improved gas efficiency by 25 percent, designing the Class A motorhome Montaj to get 13 miles per gallon. In a cost comparison study, the Montaj saved an average of $56.25 per trip in relationship to a standard Class A motorhome. The study was based on a 520 mile trip and the cost of gas being $2.25 per gallon. The Montaj is made of lightweight, recyclable materials and reduced chemical make-up, and uses a Ford V-8 gas engine.
