New Release of Alibre Design 3D CAD Software Delivers Performance Gains of up to 500%

RICHARDSON, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 1, 2005 -- Alibre Inc. has announced that its Alibre Design 3D parametric solid modeling software has been significantly upgraded so that it now provides up to five times the performance when working with parts and assemblies. Additionally, the new version, Alibre Design 8.2, increases ease-of-use with an improved user interface toolbar for controlling the visibility of reference geometry, markup and sketches.

"We were blown away by the performance gains in the new release," says Greg Milliken, President and CEO at Alibre. "Every day customers from all over the world tell us how amazed they are that we can offer Alibre Design for thousands less than comparable products. Alibre Design 8.2 pushes that envelope a lot farther -- 500% improvement speaks for itself."

Milliken continues, "We're driving the emergence of the under-$1000 professional 3D CAD seat, a market that will be as large as, or larger than, the current mid-range 3D CAD market. Though users in this space are typically willing to settle for less than the full feature set offered in more expensive products, Alibre is proving they don't have to."

Alibre Design 8.2 also has several new display enhancements that provide support for gradient backgrounds, improved line anti-aliasing, customizable color schemes and customizable edge color independent of face color. Various display acceleration options are available for faster view manipulation, along with options to suppress the display of silhouette edges in wireframe mode and enhanced constraint symbol display.

Numerous new drawing performance and productivity enhancements are also provided with Alibre Design 8.2, including the ability to share drawings for print and markup without sharing the 3D model and optimized projection of drawing views and support for new Partial views. Users can also now create Partial and Detail views using multiple figures for more complex boundaries (e.g. rectangles, half-circles), and create aligned Auxiliary views from sketch lines.

Further enhancements include:

-- Storage of commonly used hole features as catalog features
-- A new, editable Material Density table
-- Support for creation of ISO-style simplified threads
-- A new Show Constituents tool for locating parts and assemblies used in
    assemblies and drawings
-- Support for the insertion of a sketch plane normal to the end of a
    sweep path
