New Remote Terminal Unit Passes Shock/Vibration Testing, Making It Suitable for Mobile and Rolling Assets

LONGWOOD, FL--(Marketwired - Mar 12, 2014) - Semaphore, a Servelec Group Company, announces that the TBox LT2 High Performance Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) has passed a third-party laboratory testing suite that included vibration, shock, and free fall phenomena as encountered on mobile and rolling assets.

While most RTU products are designed for fixed locations, the tests qualify the TBox LT2 for operation in challenging vehicle environments where onboard automation and accurate measurement of flow, pressure, temperature, and other operating parameters are critical.

For example, the TBox LT2 RTU is ideal for oil and gas service companies with pressure pumping trucks that serve production fields. Now, their pumping and measurement processes can be automated and the vehicles can return to operation centers with accurate measurement records in their databases.

Testing was conducted according to EN 60068-2-6 (sine sweep), EN 60068-2-64 (random vibration), EN 60008-2-27 (shock) and IEC 60068-2-31 (free fall).

TBox LT2 is an all-in-one SCADA system featuring integral Web server, 3G wireless communications, and a complete cyber security application suite, all tightly integrated with programmable automation, alarm notification, data logging and Ethernet communications in a rugged module. The platform leverages instant notification via e-mail, SMS text and FTP but also provides traditional, SCADA communications for gas measurement using the Enron Modbus protocol.

When used in conjunction with Semaphore's TFlo gas flow measurement software, TBox LT2 provides a flow computing solution that meets or exceeds Alberta Energy Regulator (AER)

Directive 17 and American Petroleum Institute (API) Chapter 21.1 requirements. TBox LT2 is also approved for installation in Class I, Division 2, Groups A - D hazardous areas.
