New Rental Housing Officially Opens in Weyburn

WEYBURN, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - Feb. 19, 2016) - The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan, along with the City of Weyburn and C. Anderson Holdings Ltd., today celebrated the official opening of eight rental units of the South Pointe rental project in Weyburn

The Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), along with the Honourable Dustin Duncan, Minister of Health and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Weyburn-Big Muddy, on behalf of the Honourable Donna Harpauer, Minister of Social Services and Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, and Her Worship Deb Button, Mayor of the City of Weyburn, made the announcement today.

Quick facts:

• Located at #4 and #8 - 8^th Avenue South, South Pointe is an eight--unit housing development with four of the units subsidized for moderate-income renters. Each of the apartments has two bedrooms and is approximately 1,000 square feet (92.9 square metres).
• The federal and provincial governments, through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and Saskatchewan Housing Corporation (SHC), are jointly contributing approximately $160,000 under the Canada-Saskatchewan Investment in Affordable Housing (2014-2019) Agreement Capital Rent Subsidy program.
• The Government of Saskatchewan, through Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, is also providing $40,000 under the Rental Construction Incentive to match the $40,000 contribution from the City of Weyburn for the eight-unit project. The funding balance is being provided C. Anderson Holdings Ltd. in the form of cash, land equity and financing.
