New Research Finds SAP-Enabled Enterprises Using Auto-ID Solutions Achieved 24% Year-Over-Year Gain in Operational Efficiency

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - October 21, 2010) -  By integrating RFID and other Auto-ID and item serializations data with their businesses, SAP-enabled enterprises in Aberdeen's research improved time-to-information, gross margin return on investment, and labor costs. The latest document, RFID-Enabled Process Visibility for SAP Enterprise Customers: From Track-and-Trace to Sense-and-Respond announced this month by Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE: HHS), finds that companies using SAP for business process management and intelligence are adopting RFID and other item serialization technologies to improve efficiency. By integrating Auto-ID data into their SAP platform, they see dramatic improvements in management effectiveness, employee productivity, and customer satisfaction.

The research reveals the strategies companies use to meet their performance management requirements. Aberdeen's research found that, of SAP customers surveyed who use Auto-ID:

  • Eighty-one percent (81%) apply tags in multiple operating environments and across multiple layers (items, cases, palettes, containers, and transport vehicles)
  • Ninety-seven percent (97%) involve knowledgeable consultants or systems integrators in the building and implementation of their solution
  • Seventy percent (70%) also use SAP's Business Intelligence products
