New Service Canada Centre Opens to Better Serve Edson Residents

EDSON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 30, 2010) - The Honourable Rob Merrifield, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead and Minister of State (Transport), on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, today officially opened the Edson South Service Canada Centre.

"This great facility offers more space and allows for a more interactive, welcoming and accessible environment to better meet the needs of Service Canada clients in the Edson area," said Minister of State Merrifield.

Previously co-located with a Province of Alberta Service Centre, this new stand-alone centre will better meet the needs of Service Canada clients. The new location at 4905 4th Avenue will provide enhanced Service Canada visibility in the community and offer a more interactive and welcoming environment for clients.

Residents of Edson will continue to receive easy, convenient access to a wide range of federal government programs and services, including being able to apply for a Social Insurance Number, as well as Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security benefits.
