New Stand-Alone Chick-fil-A Restaurant Opening in Willoughby May 1

New Location to Give Away "Free Chick-fil-A for a Year" to First 100

WILLOUGHBY, OH--(Marketwire - April 30, 2008) - Chick-fil-A®, the nation's second-largest chicken restaurant chain, will reward those willing to wait in line for Chick-fil-A's newest stand-alone Chick-fil-A restaurant at 35441 Euclid Ave. in Willoughby on May 1 by giving away $26,000 in free Chick-fil-A food to the first 100 adults in line that morning.

A one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A® Combo Meals (52 coupons) will be awarded to each of the first 100 adults, age 18 and older with identification, at the new stand-alone restaurant. The line can begin forming up to 24 hours prior to the opening, with the prizes being given away on May 1 sometime between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. The restaurant will open immediately afterward.

Launched in 2003 to mark the opening of the chain's first stand-alone restaurant in Arizona, the First 100 Fans promotion continues to draw Chick-fil-A raving fans from all over the country. The Chick-fil-A opening held in Rocky River in April attracted more than 120 people to camp outside in the parking lot. Area residents are anticipated to show the same enthusiasm at the new Willoughby location.

The new restaurant in Willoughby will be the fourth stand-alone Chick-fil-A in the Cleveland area with two additional locations scheduled to open by year-end.

Billie McDonald has been selected as franchised Operator of the new stand-alone Chick-fil-A. McDonald is relocating from the Chick-fil-A at Great Lakes Mall in Mentor to operate the new restaurant. She and her husband, Harry, were both hired to work for Chick-fil-A while they were in high school 17 years ago and are now eager to make it more convenient for the residents of Willoughby to "Eat Mor Chikin."

The new restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., serving a full breakfast menu until 10:30 a.m.

Truett Cathy developed the original Chick-fil-A boneless breast of chicken sandwich in his 24-hour Dwarf House® diner near Atlanta in the early 1960s. The sandwich became so popular that Cathy opened his first Chick-fil-A restaurant in Atlanta's Greenbriar Mall in 1967. The chain has grown to more than 1,380 locations in 37 states and Washington, D.C.
