New Task Management Features Release in Project Planning Software

LA HABRA, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 5, 2011) - The latest release of Project Plan – a popular desktop project planning software – offers new task management features.

Project Plan, the cornerstone desktop project management and task software from Project Plan Ltd., has just been made available in a latest release with new features. These new exciting features focus on Project Plan's ability to manage project tasks and provide project managers and project team members with up to date views of project task status on a moment's notice.

"In order for the project manager to maintain the best control possible of the overall project, they must have a mechanism by which to monitor and control the status of ongoing project tasks," states Jason Westland, president and CEO of Project Plan Ltd. "This newest release of our Project Plan desktop solution gives the project manager just that. Easy to use functionality combined with complete control over assigning, monitoring, and reporting on project tasks and the status of those tasks against what's planned for the project."

Touting itself as 'intelligent' task software, this full featured product allows project managers to:

  • Easily build project task lists
  • Create task hierarchies within the project
  • Assign resources to project tasks with one click
  • Link related and interdependent project tasks
  • Add important information to tasks via notes
  • Assign priorities to tasks
  • Monitor actual task progress against the plan

Project Plan has sold more than 10,000 units and is used in over 100 countries worldwide. Its 300% year over year growth of its user base is impressive, but its fastest growing market is in the small to medium sized business marketplace. There, growth numbers exceed 20%. Project leaders in those organizations identify cost concerns and speed to productivity as major reasons they made the switch to using Project Plan.

"What we're hearing from the project management software user community is that they need software that can get the job done for a good price and something that is easy to use," says Westland. "When they're onboarding entry level project managers it's not always intuitive for the incoming PMs on how things work in the project management world. Therefore, the intricacies of the software may not be intuitive either – there can be a learning curve. But with Project Plan, it's so simple to use, yet so detailed, that even a novice project manager can look like a pro quickly. Even the inexperienced project manager can put together a detailed project schedule in a matter of minutes without the need for a huge mentoring time commitment."

If your organization is thinking of making a switch, but you haven't decided yet, go to and try it out. Project Plan is available as a download for a free 14 day trial so you can run it through the paces on a current project. Try it out and make sure that it's going to work for your projects and your organization before making the commitment to buy. Also, for up to date information on what Project Plan Ltd. is doing with their Project Plan software, visit their project plan blog.
