New Vicor Webinars to Highlight Trends, Innovations and Power Design Strategies for High Voltage DC Distribution

Two-Part Webinar Series on December 5 and 12 to Help Power Engineers Understand the Benefits and Accelerate Development of Higher Efficiency HVDC Power Systems

ANDOVER, MA--(Marketwired - Nov 26, 2013) - Vicor Corporation (NASDAQ: VICR) today announced the next installments in its popular Power Advantage Educational Series, featuring expert design tips and techniques aimed at optimizing power solution design. The new two-part webinar series scheduled for December 5 and 12, presented by Stephen Oliver, Vice President of Vicor's VI Chip division, will help educate attendees about the benefits of high voltage DC (HVDC) distribution and help them keep pace with accelerating mainstream adoption of HVDC architectures and systems.

Growing interest in HVDC distribution is being driven by a host of factors, with significant implications for next-generation power systems spanning datacenter, industrial automation, transportation, and military applications. Where previously stepping down from high DC voltages was expensive, inefficient and required large converters, new industry standards and advanced power components are enabling power engineers to simplify the DC distribution power chain, reduce conversion stages and achieve breakthrough efficiency gains without compromising system size.

In this two-part webinar series, Stephen Oliver will provide attendees with an overview of HVDC distribution and the factors and considerations that are driving rapid HVDC adoption. These sessions will cover industry-specific HVDC requirements, enabling topologies and components, and practical design approaches that optimize new and legacy equipment for HVDC.

The first of these webinars will be broadcasted on December 5 at 8AM EST (2PM CET, 1PM GMT) and again at 1PM EST (10AM PST, 6PM GMT). The second webinar will be broadcasted on December 12 at 8AM EST (2PM CET, 1PM GMT) and again at 1PM EST (10AM PST, 6PM GMT).

Recordings of these webinars will be made available at later dates for on-demand viewing. There is no cost to attend these webinars. This HVDC-focused webinar series will continue in 2014, and will feature 'deep dive' sessions focused on application-specific HVDC challenges and design strategies. Details to be announced.
