New VMS Discovery by Sunridge Gold at Emba Derho Prospect, Asmara Project, Eritrea

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 6, 2006) - Sunridge Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:SGC) is pleased to announce that assay results have been received from the first ten drill holes of an initial thirteen hole diamond drill program at the Emba Derho prospect, part of the 1,100 square kilometer Asmara Project, Eritrea. These initial results have confirmed the discovery of a previously unknown oxidized gold zone at surface underlain by copper and zinc zones, similar to the other volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) projects within the Asmara Project although appearing initially to be of lower grades but potentially much larger in size. The surface expression of the Emba Derho gossan zone extends over 700 metres in length, the largest yet discovered on the Asmara Project. Emba Derho is being recognized as a possible bulk-mineable VMS-style target located only 6 kilometres to the west of the high-grade zinc-gold Adi Nefas VMS deposit and the Gupo Gold Deposit. The high-grade copper-gold-zinc Debarwa VMS Deposit is approximately 25 kilometres to the south. With the discovery at Emba Derho there are now four significant zones of mineralization within the Asmara Project; Debarwa, Adi Nefas, Gupo Gold and Emba Derho. Results from the remaining three holes at Emba Derho are expected soon and follow-up drilling will start later this month.

The gossan surface expression of the Emba Derho VMS mineralization is over 700 metres in strike length and forms three tight fold structures that plunge to the north and north-east. The massive sulphide mineralization is composed of a series of stacked and folded lenses ranging in thickness from 10 to 30 metres that are cut by a series of narrow (mostly between 1 to 5 metres) unmineralized quartz porphyry dikes. These drill results suggest that the mineralized structures plunge and thicken to the north and north-east towards a strong 800 metre long gravity anomaly that has recently been outlined. This gravity anomaly will be fully tested in the next phase of drilling which is scheduled to start later this month.

Limited drilling of Emba Derho took place in the 1970's by the Ethiopian Geological Survey and in the 1990's by Ashanti Gold. Utilizing data from this work and other surface mapping and geophysical work Sunridge Gold's technical team created a new geological model for Emba Derho and implemented a 2,000 metre diamond drill program to test these ideas. The ten drill holes for which results are available were drilled over a 160 meter strike length along the outcropping Emba Derho VMS surface gossan and to vertical depths of approximately 200 metres. The mineralized zones are open in all directions. A map showing the location of these holes can be seen in this release or on the Company's webpage www.sunridgegold.com.

Notes:

1. All assays have been converted to a gold equivalent grade in grams per tonne in order to better clarify the value of these poly-metallic results. Gold equivalent values are calculated on gross metal values not adjusted for metallurgical recoveries and based on the following metal values: Gold equals US$500 per ounce, silver equals US$7 per ounce, copper equals US$2.00 per pound and zinc equals US$0.80 per pound.

2. Drill intercept lengths only are reported in the tabulations; it is estimated that true width will be approximately 80% of the reported drill intercept length.

3. Hole designation ending in "D" are all drilled by diamond drilling methods only.

4. Zones of mineralization in the tabulations are as follows: O equals Oxide, SG equals Supergene, P equals Primary zones of mineralization.

5. A Quality Assurance/Quality Control program is part of the drilling program on the Asmara Project. This program includes chain of custody protocol as well as systematic submittals of standards, duplicates and blank samples into the flow of samples produced by the drilling.

6. A description of the geology, sampling procedures, and the Company's laboratory Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures are as described in the Company's National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report filed on February 17, 2004 and amended by the Amended Technical Report filed dated April 27, 2004. This report is available at www.sedar.com.

7. Samples are prepared at African Horn Testing Services (Eritrea) and analyzed at Genalysis Laboratories (a NATA registered laboratory) in Perth Western Australia.
