New Ways to Make Better Connections With More People

Healthwise Unveils Three Health Education Innovations

BOISE, ID--(Marketwired - Oct 23, 2013) - A 2012 study on innovation shows that it isn't the amount invested in innovation that's important, it's where it's invested.(1) That truth is perhaps most evident in the investments that organizations are making on innovations in health care. Today at CCA Forum 13, Healthwise unveils three innovations for health care organizations to use to make better connections with their members and patients.

  • Combine custom materials and Healthwise® education. Organizations can import any of their own materials, preventive care services, information about online programs and classes, or support group information, and find them integrated within the Healthwise solution's search. When clinicians select Healthwise health education to send to a member, they can also add their organization's merged materials. It's one complete package of member education materials that can be delivered electronically to any device.
  • Change behavior with a new take on health education videos. Healthwise videos do more than provide health care facts. They also engage people with visual storytelling and connect with them through behavior-change techniques. Based on a consistent behavioral science framework, the videos are developed to target different levels of readiness to act (from awareness to sustainability), significantly increasing people's chance of success.
  • Reach a total population through automated interventions. Automated health-education interventions are a low-cost way to reach more people. Organizations can choose from predefined campaigns with proven results, or they can create custom campaigns to meet their population health goals. They can send a one-time outreach for things like preventive screening reminders or deliver time-based, ongoing campaigns to help people stay as healthy as possible or manage a chronic condition. This capability provides a scalable approach to improving HEDIS and HCAHPS metrics.

"These engagement and education innovations are just the beginning," said Jim Giuffré, Healthwise president and COO. "Every day we are looking at the environment to see how we can use new technologies and behavior-change techniques to help our clients engage and activate people."
