New Wearable Tech, Wave Wristband, Launched on Kickstarter

Wave: An LED Wristband Controlled by a Smartphone

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - Apr 25, 2013) - Wave, a silicone wristband, lights up for a user when a call, text or app notification comes into a smartphone, and can be controlled in a group setting to light up multiple bands in the same color or pattern at the same time. The Kickstarter campaign, which gives the public an opportunity to be the first to get a Wave, offers pledges ranging from as low as $28 to receive a single wristband, to a $98 developer kit, all the way up to $8,000 for a VIP experience in Las Vegas.

Co-founder and CEO Paul Fulton said, "We did not just want to create something cool, we wanted to make lives better. Wave brings people together and makes communicating easy and fun."

Fulton, and Wave's other creators, Andre Nakaso and Hans van Leeuwen, kept an active and social lifestyle in mind when developing features for the wristbands. For example, a runner only has to glance at her wrist to see if a call coming in is important enough to interrupt her run. Or a concert goer who can't hear or feel his phone vibrate, but can quickly see when his friends are posting Instagram photos during the night. Users of Wave wristbands may also set their Wave to different programmed light patterns, an automatic sound activation mode, or an artistic interactive mode to light their wristband to music wherever they are.

While the included Wave mobile app is useful on its own, the company is opening up access to Wave for developers. While creating Wave, the founders ran into developers that were looking for a Bluetooth wristband with accelerometers to extend and control their apps. Developers are looking at everything from wrist motion game controllers, color weather alerts for sailors, lost children finders, sports score alerts, to an athlete app where your competitive status glows in color.

The three founders have served in iconic technology roles through extensive experience in Silicon Valley and worldwide design and manufacturing. They have worked with or designed systems for well-known brands including Sony, Philips, Marantz, Compaq/HP and Cisco. They are at the forefront of wireless and cloud technology and Cloudsona is their passion and brainchild.
