New Westlands Solar Farms Project Powers Up in Fresno County

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 4, 2014) - Recently, Swinerton Renewable Energy and Clēnera joined representatives from PG&E, the Dashiell Corporation, the Westlands development team, and D.E. Shaw to celebrate completion of a new 18 MW solar project near Huron, California. The Westlands Solar Farms project is located on 85 acres of land adjacent to Interstate 5 in Fresno County. The project is producing and selling power under contract with PG&E.

General contractor Swinerton built the single-axis tracker photovoltaic array and new substation under contract with Clēnera. The plant is connected by a half-mile-long generation tie and transmission line from the substation into a new 70 kV switchyard. Swinerton installed 18 AE 1000NX inverters supplied by Advanced Energy, Inc. The project was built at a rapid pace, with more than 5,000 JinkoSolar modules installed per day during peak construction.
