New WildPackets Omnipliances Give Enterprises Comprehensive 1G, 10G and 40G Analysis

WildPackets Omnipliances Provide the Most Powerful, Accurate and Affordable Solutions Available for Monitoring and Troubleshooting High-Speed Networks

WALNUT CREEK, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 19, 2013) - WildPackets, Inc., a leading provider of network and application performance analysis solutions, today announced a new line of appliances for capturing and analyzing network data: Omnipliance CX, Omnipliance MX and Omnipliance TL.

As networks get faster, traffic volume rises, but IT organizations are seeing less because traditional network monitoring and security tools cannot keep up with 10G and 40G data rates. In a recent WildPackets survey, The State of Faster Networks, 43 percent of network engineers and IT directors reported limited or no network visibility as their biggest challenge. While 85 percent thought network forensics were essential, only 31 percent implemented such a solution on their company's networks. Additionally, a recent study by TRAC Research found that more than half of IT leaders (59 percent) were concerned about the number of dropped packets and a little over half (51 percent) were concerned about the reliability of data captured by current network analysis solutions. The new WildPackets Omnipliances address these challenges by providing IT organizations the comprehensive network visibility and control they have enjoyed on traditional LANs and 1G networks on 10G and 40G networks.

"Our new Omnipliance line addresses the real issues experienced as companies move to faster network speeds," said Timothy McCreery, president and CEO of WildPackets. "Visibility, data precision and affordability are no longer tradeoffs. The new Omnipliances deliver unprecedented performance and analytical accuracy at an affordable price for networks of any size. These new appliances are a continuation of WildPackets' commitment to providing customers with network forensics they can trust."

WildPackets' new Omnipliance network analysis and recording appliances are more powerful, precise and affordable than any other solution for high-speed network monitoring and troubleshooting. Running newly optimized OmniEngine software, Omnipliance TL achieves packet capture at 20Gbps, becoming the industry leader in cost-performance comparisons. Additionally, Omnipliance CX and Omnipliance MX achieve 100 percent and 50 percent performance improvements, respectively, over previous generations. Each appliance is designed for rapid, convenient deployment and provides real-time network analytics and monitoring, as well as high-speed network forensics for post-incident analysis.

  • Omnipliance CX is WildPackets' most affordable network analysis and recorder appliance. It is ideal for small- to medium-sized businesses and remote offices of larger enterprises.
  • Omnipliance MX is a workhorse for data centers that constantly monitors the health of the network with its unique network traffic capture, recording and deep packet inspection technology.
  • Omnipliance TL is a high-performance network analysis and recorder appliance that offers continuous network traffic capture, allowing for analysis of historical network traffic and quick data retrieval for troubleshooting.

"Our research shows that organizations are skeptical that traditional network analysis tools can keep up with today's high-speed networks," said Bojan Simic, president and principal analyst at TRAC Research. "WildPackets' new Omnipliance line is providing a unique solution for addressing the key challenges for monitoring and troubleshooting the performance of high-speed networks. The combination of scalable capabilities for network traffic recording, network traffic analysis and the pricing model, position this solution to effectively address the key user requirements for network performance monitoring."

The new line of Omnipliances also includes significant storage improvements, including the introduction of OmniStorage, a line of disk arrays that provide additional, external storage for Omnipliance TL. OmniStorage disk arrays can double the capacity of the original appliance and enable Omnipliance TL to capture and record high-speed network traffic for longer periods of time. They are available in disk arrays of 32TB, 48TB, and 64TB.
