New World Systems Hosts a 'Disaster Planning and Recovery' Web Seminar

TROY, MI -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 26, 2005 -- New World Systems, a leading provider of enterprise-wide software solutions for the public sector, is hosting a free web seminar on Disaster Planning and Recovery, November 4, 2005.

Planning for disaster has been a hot topic since the tragedies on September 11, 2001, and again with the recent tragedy following hurricane Katrina. New World's goal is to provide local public safety agencies with the knowledge and tools to help you and your agency plan for any major event or disaster and protect your community.

Mr. Richard Varn, senior fellow for Center for Digital Government and Education, will discuss what systems are the most critical in the event of any disaster. Mr. Varn most recently worked on the disaster recovery plan for the State of Iowa, City of Antonio, for the Educational Testing Service (ETS) as a board member, and is currently involved with several Texas planning commisions. He also headed Iowa's first IT department and served as the state's first CIO in 1999.

By the end of the web seminar, Mr. Varn will have public safety agencies reviewing their current disaster recovery and business continuity strategy and possibly question whether the current plan will keep their communities afloat when facing disaster. An industry expert, Mr. Varn will provide agencies with the framework and actions required to prepare a community; and, most importantly, how to make sure these plans are complete, fully funded, tested, staffed, and ready to implement.

Orlando, Fla., Police Department will also discuss how its disaster recovery plan was implemented and the current strategy. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from a fellow agency with experience.

The seminar targets chiefs, sheriffs, crime analysts, detectives, and other public safety personnel involved in protecting the community.
