NEW WORLDBEAT CD LAUNCH

Diaspora productions presents LEMA, Annie Ébène's new album Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 9, 2005) -

On the occasion of the release of LEMA, the first album of the Congolese artist Annie Ébène, you are cordially invited to the CD launch on Wednesday 14th of September 2005 at 7 pm, at club LE LAMBI, 4465 boulevard St. Laurent in Montreal.

Annie Ébène is a rising figure of the Quebec worldbeat scene. Originating from the region of Bandundu Congo (D.R.C), Annie sings her compositions not only in Kikongo but also in Lingala, kimbala and in kisongo, in styles of African music going from blues to folk, and from rumba to reggae. After a long path filled with a lot of hard experiences she finally settles in Montreal. She is amongst one of the rare artists to openly denounce women conditions in Africa.

Through LEMA, Annie presents ten grooving tracks of Congolese and African music in general. About 20 talented musicians contributed to the recording of the album, namely Michel Simard, Harold Faustin, Zena Ngoy, Ross Whiteman, David Mobio, Charles Yapo, Dominic Donkor, Sadio Sissoko, Eduardo Sanchez, liouanni Arteaga, just to mention a few.

LEMA was produced par Brian Quaye at Diaspora Productions Studio in Montreal, except Munzenza, which was mixed at studio Stellart by Claude Rolland. Produced for Diaspora productions and distributed by Indiepool (www.indiepool.com), The CD is available at most record stores.

Annie Ébène, who was invited to the Carnival of cultures in Ottawa, to the Festival International Nuits d'Afrique and who lately was part of the programming of Afrikadey Festival in Calgary and also the Parlons Genocide event, is available for interviews.
