New Year's Eve... in the Great Outdoors!

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 20, 2011) - This year, no excuse will be good enough to miss the New Year at Place Jacques-Cartier and the Quays of the Old Port. Why be alone when you can end 2011 in style and have a great time amongst a festive crowd? Old Montreal's Extravaganza offers everyone, whether alone or as a family, a chance to celebrate the arrival of 2012 in the great outdoors as early as 9 P.M.!

A prime seat - no reservation needed! No need to plan ahead of time and empty your wallet to get the best seats since all activities surrounding the New Year's celebration are free and accessible to all by public transport. Evening program schedule: Raffy, a music group and winner of the House Band de Musique plus de 2011 contest, will perform between 9 P.M. and 10:15 P.M. with a joyful blend of hits and compositions. Traditional Holiday music will also delight spectators thanks to Alain François performing between 10:45 P.M. and midnight. The very first moments of 2012 will be highlighted by the Telus Pyromusical Fireworks and followed by a second appearance from Alain François until 1:00 A.M.

One celebration for all! A warm attire is the only prerequisite to celebrate the very last minutes of the year the right way, amongst a few thousand eager people gathered at Place Jacques-Cartier. Gathered outdoors, the crowd composed of tourists, visitors from abroad and locals, varies between approximately 40 000 people while this number continues to grow each year. Since this is the time for rejoicing and celebrating, no excuse is good enough to deprive oneself of the joys that the outdoors New Year's celebration brings.

Part of the program schedule which ends with the New Year's Grand Ball on December 31, is the Star's Christmas Trees exhibition presented in the aisles of Marché Bonsecours until Saturday, December 31 at 6 P.M.

The International village of Christmas traditions: Only 4 days left! Before handing over the stage for the Grand Ball's preparations, Place Jacques-Cartier will greet its very first Christmas Village, where visitors will discover an array of gourmet products, regional specialties and loads of exhibits and workshops will from the Alsatian region - this year's guest of honour. Why not also make a discovery stop to visit the fifteen or so chalets decorated with a European flair, thus adding a magic touch to these historically rich premises. Offered until December 23, at 9 P.M. (with merchants having the option to open on December 24 in the morning).
