New York Festivals International Advertising Awards® Celebrates 2010 Winners in Shanghai, China

Proctor & Gamble Named Advertiser of the Year, Young & Rubicam Awarded Agency Network of the Year, Jung von Matt, Hamburg Honored With Agency of the Year, and Mortierbrigade, Brussels Awarded Boutique Agency of the Year

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - June 14, 2010) - New York Festivals, now in its 53rd year of honoring the "World's Best Work®," celebrated the 2010 International Advertising Awards winners at a spectacular series of events held June 10th -12th  in Shanghai, China. The three day festival was sponsored by Sino ADI, and held at the Shanghai Theatre Academy and Sino ADI's state-of-the-art advertising and marketing center. Proctor & Gamble was named Advertiser of the Year, Young & Rubicam was awarded the prestigious Agency Network of the Year Award; Jung von Matt, Hamburg was honored with the Agency of the Year Award; Mortierbrigade, Brussels was awarded Boutique Agency of the Year.

Proctor & Gamble, the multinational Ohio based consumer goods marketer, was presented with the New York Festivals 2010 Advertiser of the Year Award for their commitment to creativity and innovation. 

The Agency Network of the Year and Agency of the Year are prestigious honors presented to the company that produces the finest caliber of work and the company that garners the most awards in the competition. Young & Rubicam was honored last night with the title of Agency Network of the Year receiving a total of nine Gold World Medals, thirteen Silver medals, a UNDPI Silver Award, fifteen Bronze medals, fifty three Finalist Certificates and a UNDPI Finalist Award from all of Young & Rubicam's worldwide offices.

Jung von Matt, Hamburg was awarded the Agency of the Year Award for their stellar work. The Hamburg agency received ten Gold World Medals, seven Silver, ten Bronze, and nineteen Finalist Certificates.

The Boutique Agency of the Year is based on high scoring entries and is selected from companies that are not affiliated with any agency networks and have less than 75 employees. Mortierbrigade of Brussels, Belgium was awarded Boutique Agency of the Year Award, the agency received three Gold World Medals, three Bronze, and three Finalist Certificates.

"We founded the agency 5 years ago, and tried to install a new way of thinking and doing with focus on ideas, not buzzwords. It's great to see that our approach is being appreciated by our clients, and by the international advertising industry. Being awarded 'boutique agency of the year' is of course one of the highlights in our existence; we must be doing something right! The prestigious New York Festivals Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to international advertising icons Akira Kagami, Global Executive Creative Director of Dentsu, Japan, and Graham Warsop, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) & Partners for their landmark contributions to the advertising industry.

The Grand Trophy Awards were selected from the top scoring Gold Medalists in all categories by the 2010 GrandJury. Grand Trophies were awarded to the following prominent agencies: Jung von Matt AG, Berlin, Germany for "Last Call" for client 13th Street in the Digital & Interactive competition; BETC Euro RSCG of Paris, France for "The Closet" for client CANAL+ in the TV/Cinema competition; Del Campo Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, Buenos Aires, Argentina for "Children Do" for client Hospital Aleman in the Print competition; Leo Burnett of Chicago, USA, for "Zack Johnson" for client Proctor & Gamble, Tampax in the Mixed Media competition; CLM BBDO of Boulogne Billancourt, France for "Posters" for client Hewlett-Packard in the Outdoor competiton; Farfar of Stockholm, Sweden, "World's Biggest Signpost" for client Nokia in the Avant-Garde competition; Serviceplan of Hamburg, Germany, for "Pro Contra" for client LeadAcademy in the Design competition; Ogilvy & Mather of Frankfurt, Germany, for "The Magic Mirror" for client Dove in the Collateral competition; and Duval Guillaume of Antwerp, Belgium, for "Bizarre Traffic Updates" for client Touring Mobilis in the Radio competition.

In 2010, New York Festivals announced the merger of the Innovative Advertising Awards with New York Festivals International Advertising Awards allowing winners of both award shows to be honored together at NYF's Awards Ceremony in Shanghai.

The Innovative Advertising Awards presented the Grand Trophy to Forsman & Bodenfors of Gothenburg, Sweden for "Facebook Showroom" for client IKEA. The GrandJury® awarded Innovative Advertising winners a total of seventeen Gold Medals, seventeen Silver, twenty-six Bronze and ninety-four Finalist Certificates.

Each year the New York Festivals, in collaboration with the United Nations, appoints a panel comprised of UN representatives to select work that exemplifies the aims and ideals of the United Nations. Their selections are awarded the illustrious UNDPI Award. 2010's United Nations Department of Public Information Award winners: Leo Burnett, Beirut, Lebanon was recognized with a Gold UNDPI Award for "Khede Kasra" for the Hariri Foundation; Shalmor, Avnon & Amichay Y&R Interactive Tel Aviv of Israel was honored with a Silver UNDPI Award for "SDIA Project" for their client Aids Task Force; and Euro RSCG of Chicago, Illinois received a Bronze UNDPI Award for "JPA" for Juvenile Protection Agency.

The following agencies received Finalist UNDPI Awards: Saatchi & Saatchi, Berlin for "Light the Dark" for Amnesty International; Leo Burnett London for "House of Cards - Live Poster" for client Shelter; Scholz & Friends, Berlin for "Wrong News" for International Society for Human Rights and "Seventh Hand News" for client Reporters Without Borders; Air, Belgium for "Emergency" for client Amnesty International; Y & R South Africa for "Blood Diamond" for their client African Diamond Council; and Euro RSCG Zurich/Eurad AG for "Bus" for their client Swiss Health Department.

NYF's International Advertising Awards hosted a series of interactive speaker's sessions on both June 11th & 12th. The following seminars were presented on June 11th: "Consumers Are Changing, is Advertising?" featured the following prominent advertising creatives: Kitty Lun, Chairman & CEO, Lowe China; Jarek Ziebinski, President, Leo Burnett & Arc Asia Pacific; and Jae-Hang Park, Marketing Division Director, Innocean Korea; "New Media/New Game" featured: Johan Vakidis, ECD, AKQA Shanghai, China; Joshua Lowcock, Director, Innovation & New Media, Starcom China; and Nao Tokui, CEO Qosom Inc., Japan. China, "The Billion Dollar Market" included the following industry experts: Tomaz Mok, Managing Director, McCann Erickson, China; Zhang Hui Qin, Chief Editor, China Ad Magazine; and Dick van Motman, CEO & President, DDB China Group. In addition, Mr. Tan Bing of Sino ADI presented a seminar titled "Gateway to China."

June 12th featured the following speaker's seminars: "Proliferation of Boutique Agencies" featured the following panel members: Santosh Padhi, CCO & Co-Founder, TapRoot India; Keum Soo-Chul, CEO, KISS Creative Group Korea; Richard Johnson, Founder of The Gang Singapore; and Tony Liu, Chairman & ECD, AEIOU China. "The Agency-Client Relationship" featured: Mr. Wain Choi, VP & CCO Diamond Ogilvy Korea; Cecil Yow, Sr. Executive International Affairs South South News; and Jeffrey Yu, Chairman, Bates 141 Asia Pacific. And Daniel Jackson, Managing Director, Cutting Edge, UK presented "Sonic Branding."

Winning entries of the 2010 New York Festivals International Advertising Awards and Innovative Advertising Awards were selected by NYF's GrandJury® comprised of 312 Senior Creative Directors from 56 countries around the world, representing the largest and most diverse jury of any advertising competition in the world.
