New York Festivals Radio Broadcasting Competition Announces New Director; Initiates Online Judging

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 5, 2008) - The international New York Festivals (NYF), now in its 51st year as the premier awards company recognizing The World's Best Work™, announces strategic plans for one of its most influential brands, the NYF Radio Broadcasting competition.

Leslie Rasimas has been appointed director of the competition after five months at NYF as international development manager. Prior to joining NYF, she was the international representative manager for the Clio Awards.

"Serving as a cross section of the international radio broadcasting industry, this competition can use a boost of energy and an infusion of fresh ideas," said Rasimas. "The Radio Broadcasting competition is a must-enter, and the gala a must-attend event, a measure by which all others will be able to gauge their own work. It will be an award show that will not stop at simply recognizing the best work, but will encourage creation of better work and cultivate an innovative state of mind."

Entry and judging procedures for the Radio Broadcasting competition have been upgraded. Now a majority of the work will be judged online, allowing the prestigious international jury to rate the work in a personal setting at his or her own leisure and also assures no undue influence from other jury members. To streamline the entry process, all work may be uploaded through the competition's ftp site.

Also new for 2008 is the addition of the Student category. College and university students may enter in the five sub-categories of Best Radio Station, Best Radio Personality, Best Newscast, Best Music Program and Best Sports Program.

The 2008 Radio Broadcasting competition closes March 17. This year's winners will be honored Thursday, June 19, at the beautiful Tribeca Rooftop in downtown Manhattan.
