New York and Houston Dermatologist Speaks at 74th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology

Dr. Paul M. Friedman Recently Spoke About New Advances in Laser Technology at the AAD's 74th Annual Meeting -- One of the Largest of Its Kind in the World -- Held in Washington, D.C.

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Mar 31, 2016) - Each year, the American Academy of Dermatology holds its Annual Meeting to bring together dermatologists from around the world. Founded in 1938, the AAD has a membership of more than 18,000 physicians and is dedicated to advancing the field of dermatology in a number of ways. Dr. Paul M. Friedman, a dermatologist in New York and Houston, was recently invited to speak at the 74th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. and says it has become an important event for dermatologists promoting excellence in patient care through education, research, and advocacy. "These are the foremost experts in the field discussing the latest research on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dermatologic disease. Patient care benefits when physicians continue education on the latest state-of-the-art treatment options for a variety of skin conditions."

For this year's AAD meeting, Dr. Friedman served as faculty for the "Pearls from the Masters of Dermatologic Surgery" symposium. Dr. Friedman spoke about new procedures that safely combine laser technologies to treat complex skin conditions for patients of all ages and skin types. "I've incorporated many of the techniques discussed at the symposium into my own practice. These specialized, combination laser procedures are designed to optimize results and improve patient care for a number of different conditions, including birthmark removal, tattoo removal, melasma, and treatment for surgical scars."

Other presentations for which Dr. Friedman served as faculty included the "Disorders of Pigmentation Forum," where he spoke on the best laser treatments for a variety of pigmentary disorders affecting the skin. Dr. Friedman also spoke at the Association of Surgical Faculty, where he discussed his research with TRASER -- an investigational technology for the treatment of vascular lesions.

After the success of the AAD's 74th Annual Meeting, Dr. Friedman isn't slowing down. He will be attending the 2016 American Society of Laser Medicine & Surgery Annual Conference in Boston March 30-April 3, 2016. Dr. Friedman has attended the ASLMS Annual Meeting for nearly two decades. He notes that he has personally seen the impact of these conferences on the field of dermatologic laser surgery over the years. "This is the largest conference on laser and energy-based technologies for medicine held in the United States. Cutting-edge research and new technology is discussed in a peer-to-peer setting." Dr. Friedman served as Co-Chair of the 2015 ASLMS conference. This year, he will be serving as faculty for the Device-Based Resurfacing, Rejuvenation and Recontouring course, where he will discuss his approach utilizing non-ablative fractional laser resurfacing procedures to safely treat skin conditions such as scars, unwanted pigmentation, sun damage, and other conditions.

In addition to his presentations at the upcoming ASLMS meeting, Dr. Friedman will be receiving the Best of Cutaneous Applications Abstract Session Award for his abstract titled TRASER: Preliminary Results from a Clinical Trial for the Treatment of Nasal Telangiectasias. "We are honored to receive the best of cutaneous applications clinical paper award chosen from hundreds of scientific abstracts. The study was conducted at our office last year and we are presenting the findings with this investigational technology."

Ultimately, Dr. Friedman says these conferences allow physicians from many different geographic areas to learn the latest developments and state-of-the-art clinical use of lasers and energy-based devices that have changed the world of patient care.
