Newark Pain and Rehab Offers Advanced Treatments for Rehabilitating Auto Injuries

NEWARK, NJ--(Marketwire - Jul 26, 2011) - Dr. Vincent Saraceno of Newark Pain and Rehab Center announced that his office has renewed its focus on treating and managing pain related to auto injuries. This action is in response to the continuing high number of auto accidents, which cause injuries that result in high medical costs and long-term pain. According to recent car insurance industry estimates, the average person will be involved in three to four auto accidents over the course of a lifetime. In Essex County, New Jersey Department of Transportation statistics show there were 6,646 total injury crashes on all road systems in 2009 alone. In 2010, the Insurance Research Council reported that the average claim for injuries to cover the driver and others involved in a crash had risen to over $23,000.

As a licensed chiropractor, Dr. Saraceno knows that proper treatment could relieve much of the pain and suffering associated with auto injuries. "I've treated patients who have conditions ranging from whiplash and back pain to those suffering from leg, arm and shoulder pain as well. For some, serious injuries can make it nearly impossible to continue working, sleeping and caring for loved ones. I want to help alleviate their pain and get them back to doing the things they enjoy as quickly as possible."

His office uses a variety of treatments to reduce the pain brought about by auto injuries in Newark and surrounding communities. Recent medical studies have shown that all types of soft tissue injuries heal better with active chiropractic therapy. Once the doctor has met with a patient and reviewed the extent of his or her injuries, he will recommend a course of treatment that is based on a "whole person approach" of medical care and lifestyle adjustments to achieve relief.

In addition to traditional manipulation and newer therapies such as acupuncture, Dr. Saraceno uses many non-surgical chiropractic methods to treat injuries. Spinal decompression therapy is an advanced technique that he may use to treat pain and disc injuries in the neck and lower back. This therapy uses a computer-operated table that gradually stretches the spine in timed and calculated sequences.

For those cases where the pain may be so severe that it does not respond to more conservative approaches, the chiropractor is also certified in manipulation under anesthesia. While in a conscious state of sedation that prevents muscle spasms and contractions, the patient is taken through passive range of motion movements and specific chiropractic treatments are performed, followed by further physical therapy. Once the anesthesia wears off, the patient receives more passive range of motion exercising, inferential stimulation and cryotherapy, and is sent home for rest.
