Newcastle Minerals Ltd.: Completion of Drill Program on the Snip North Property

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 6, 2006) - Newcastle Minerals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:NCM) is pleased to announce the completion of the diamond drill program on the Snip North Property which is approximately 3 kilometres from the Snip and Skyline deposits. Five holes totaling 1095 meters were drilled between October 9 and 23. These holes were designed to test a porphyry copper-gold-molybdenum target that was defined by geological mapping, magnetic surveys, soil geochemistry and previous drilling. Several of these previous holes intersected abundant disseminated and stringer veins of chalcopyrite with significant amounts of molybdenum mineralization from the surface to the bottom of the holes.

The five holes drilled in 2006 tested a 500-meter long section in the center of a coincident geochemical and magnetic anomaly that is at least one and one-half kilometers long. Drill hole locations and assays will be posted in due course to Newcastle's website at www.newcastleminerals.com.

The management of Newcastle Minerals Ltd is very pleased with the performance of the drill program and believes that the porphyry copper-gold-molybdenum mineralization embodies a large, first-class target.

The technical information in this news release has been prepared in accordance with Canadian regulatory requirements set out in National Instrument 43-101 and reviewed by David G. DuPre, P. Geo., the designated Qualified Person for this project. A rigorous chain-of-custody and quality control program, consisting of the insertion of standard control samples, duplicates and blanks will be applied to the N thin-walled diameter, sawn half-core samples. Sample preparation is being handled by an Assayers Canada facility in Telkwa, B.C. and the analyses by an Assayers Canada laboratory in Vancouver, BC.

Samples will be analyzed by fire assay fusion with an inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-ES) finish for gold, and dilute aqua-regia digestion with ICP-ES for a multi-element suite. Random sets of duplicates will be check analyzed by Acme Laboratories in Vancouver.

Assay results will be released when they become available.
