NewEdge Design for Dell Adamo XPS Wins Best Consumer Product Design in the Design Week Awards 2011, Tying With Apple's iPad and Beating Out Apple's iPhone 4

LONDON--(Marketwire - Apr 13, 2011) - Design Week, a U.K.-based design publication from Centaur Media Plc, recently announced its winners for the Design Week Awards 2011.

Thirty-one judges from the design community examined entries from across 22 different categories over November and December in 2010, and the Dell Adamo XPS designed by NewEdge rose to the top in the Consumer Product Design category; beating out the iPhone 4 and tying with the iPad.

"There's something really special about winning the award, especially in a year which showcased such a strong field of entries," said Paul Stead, MA, co-CEO of NewEdge, a global innovation firm specializing in research, strategy, and design.

This marks the 4th globally recognized design award for the 9.99mm thin fully featured Adamo laptop, highlighting NewEdge's prowess in conceiving, engineering and delivering truly innovative and ground breaking products.

"Something is quite unique about our process," said Stead. "We were challenged by Dell that the product was 'unobtainium,' but within three months we had created the innovative architecture, and within nine months we had three working prototypes. A testimony to great teamwork and a belief in our ability to deliver."

The award ceremony was held on March 8, 2011 at the London Hilton and hosted by Design Week, a choice publication for more than 35,000 design professionals and suppliers.
