NewEdge Partners With Finalist of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF)

LONDON--(Marketwire - May 20, 2011) - NewEdge, an innovation, strategy and design firm, has partnered with 17-year-old student, Aseem Mishra, a finalist at the Intel ISEF Fair to further develop, research and patent his innovation.

Mishra has designed a pair of jeans that doubles as a drum kit. By tapping away at the eight paper-thin sensors sewn within the jeans one is able to trigger a full set of digital drums currently held in a backpack. Each sensor emits a different drum sound -- kick, snare, crash cymbal, etc.

Mishra represented the UK at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles on May 8 - 13 with his drum kit jeans design.

Paul Stead, chief executive officer for NewEdge, is a pioneer of cutting-edge innovation and has a 20-year history in developing landmark projects. Stead is always looking for new innovations that will have a significant impact on the market. He first became aware of the young inventor Mishra after viewing his interview on the BBC Breakfast show, which aired on March 30, 2011.

"Through our extensive experience in innovation, NewEdge aims to support and develop emerging young talent," said Stead. "We are excited to partner with Mishra to uncover the multiple opportunities that his invention presents."

About the Intel ISEF
The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), the world's largest international pre-college science competition, annually provides a forum for more than 1,600 high school students from nearly 60 countries, regions, and territories to showcase their independent research.

The Intel ISEF is the premier science competition in the world exclusively for students in grades 9-12. It has grown from the National Science Fair, which was created by Society for Science & the Public (then known as Science Service) in 1950. In 1958, the Fair became international for the first time when Japan, Canada, and Germany joined the competition.

Today, millions of students worldwide compete each year in local and school-sponsored science fairs; the winners of these events go on to participate in Intel ISEF-affiliated regional and state fairs from which the best win the opportunity to attend the Intel ISEF. The Intel ISEF unites these top young scientific minds, showcasing their talent on an international stage, enabling them to submit their work to judging by doctoral level scientists -- and providing the opportunity to compete for over $4 million in prizes and scholarships.
