Newforma Executives Named NHHTC Entrepreneurs of the Year

New Hampshire High Technology Council Honors Ian Howell, Bob Batcheler and Dave Plunkett for Leadership, Ingenuity and Innovation

MANCHESTER, NH--(Marketwired - May 9, 2014) - Newforma, a project information management (PIM) software company integrating people, projects and processes to transform building and infrastructure project delivery, today announced that the New Hampshire High Technology Council has awarded its 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year award to three Newforma executives: Chief Executive Officer Ian Howell, Co-founder and Executive Vice President of Strategy Bob Batcheler, and Co-founder and Executive Vice President of Development Dave Plunkett. The award is given to New Hampshire founders, owners, or senior managers who have successfully organized, developed or managed a high tech concept into a commercial product or service.

On May 5, when the Council announced the award, Newforma was celebrating its tenth anniversary. Today the company has 190 employees and its products are being used on more than 1.4 million projects worldwide.

CEO Ian Howell said, "New Hampshire has provided a rich environment for establishing Newforma as a global software company. Our original investor, Borealis Ventures, is located here, and organizations such as the New Hampshire High Tech Council are contributing to a vibrant technology ecosystem for companies like ours to continue to grow. It is great to be acknowledged by NHHTC via this award for the company's success to date and we look forward to continuing to grow our business in the years ahead."

Upon receiving the award, Co-founder and EVP Bob Batcheler said, "Although three of the six co-founders plus our CEO lived elsewhere when we started the company, we made a conscious choice to headquarter Newforma in New Hampshire. The depth of the talent pool, access to capital through our venture capital partners like Borealis Ventures and North Bridge Venture Partners, and the great quality of life here in New Hampshire have proven the wisdom of that crucial decision."

Co-founder and EVP Dave Plunkett said, "We set out to solve problems in AEC project delivery as defined by architects, engineers, contractors, and owners who took time to describe their pain points to us. We received our Series A funding on May 5, 2004, before we had written a single line of code. All we had was a vision of how we could help the industry. It's been very rewarding to fulfill that vision. We're excited to take it even further."

Other Entrepreneur of the Year finalists were Robert Goldstein and Stephen Singlar, CEO and president, respectively, of Single Digits; and Lou Guercia and Peter Chase, who are respectively the president/CEO and founder/EVP of Scribe Software. The award ceremony included congratulations by Governor Maggie Hassan and a keynote speech by David Friend, co-founder, chair and CEO of leading online backup company Carbonite Inc. The award dinner attracted hundreds of influential leaders of tech-based companies from across the region.

Paul Mailhot, chair of the Council Board of Directors, said, "It was a great night to celebrate entrepreneurship [and] recognize several leaders for their commitment to and success in enhancing our tech ecosystem. I want to congratulate Newforma for their work and welcome them to an amazing group of entrepreneurs who have won this prestigious award over the past 26 years."
