NewGen Announces Appointment of Darryl Noreen as Director of Technical Services

CHARLOTTE, NC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 22, 2006 -- NewGen Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: NWGN) today announced the appointment of Darryl L. Noreen as Director of Technical Services, further enhancing the company's leading position in the biofuel industry and strengthening its drive to become the premier producer of the cleanest burning renewable fuels in the world.

Mr. Noreen brings a wealth of experience to NewGen. Starting his career at Mobil Oil Corporation, where he served as a plant engineering manager and researched cogeneration fuel products, he has more recently consulted a host of major energy companies including Rockwell International, Science Applications International Corp., EMC Engineers, Inc., and Energy Engineering, Inc. He also previously served with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory as a project manager, coordinating work with the National Bureau of Standards. Over many years, Mr. Noreen has focused on structuring and implementing multi-million-dollar research projects, managed technology development, and commercialized a variety of both basic and applied research programs with full budgetary responsibility. In addition, Mr. Noreen is a published author and has specialized in the development of new, patented processes for zero-NOx combustion of fuels.
