Newly Revamped Healthcare Certification Is Launched

WESTCHESTER, IL--(Marketwired - July 14, 2015) - The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) has updated its Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) Program to reflect a broader range of business and financial skills. The new CHFP designation is geared toward clinical and health plan leaders as well as finance professionals, including both experienced leaders and those who are new to the field.

"HFMA's goal is to build a broad understanding of healthcare finance together with leadership skills, business acumen, practical knowledge, and a collaborative spirit -- skills essential for succeeding in today's environment," said HFMA President and CEO Joseph J. Fifer, FHFMA, CPA. "Healthcare leaders in all sectors will require a deep understanding of the new financial realities that reflect an integrated delivery system with the complexities of the provider, payer, and physician perspectives intertwined."

The realigned CHFP includes two online learning modules that highlight the shift from volume to value in care delivery and features coursework on the intersection among financial data, clinical decision-making, and health plan activities. The certification exam is self-administered online through HFMA.
