NewsGator Announces Synchronization Plans Between Windows Vista, Internet Explorer 7 and NewsGator Family of RSS Products

Synchronization Demonstrated During Dean Hachamovitch's Keynote and Breakout Sessions at MIX06 Conference

LAS VEGAS, NV -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 20, 2006 -- NewsGator Technologies, Inc., the leading RSS Platform Company, today announced plans that its suite of RSS aggregators will synchronize with the upcoming releases of Microsoft Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7. The synchronization will enable users to ensure that Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7 users stay up-to-date with all their subscriptions, whether they are accessing them via the Web, mobile devices, Mac OS-based computers, and other platforms. As a result, users will be able to subscribe to and read news, information and other RSS content where, when, and how they want.

A Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, NewsGator is working closely with Microsoft to help make RSS better and easier for both individual users and application developers and to further encourage mainstream adoption. This relationship is part of Microsoft's effort to help bring the power of RSS to applications running on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and the upcoming Windows Vista. During demonstrations today at the Microsoft MIX06 event, the two companies showed how a user could subscribe to an RSS feed from Internet Explorer 7, sync and view items from the feed in NewsGator online, sync from NewsGator Online to NewsGator's NetNewsWire Mac-based reader, and then see the feed list through a preview of the upcoming NewsGator Windows Mobile Reader.

"With Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft is exposing the power of RSS to hundreds of millions of developers, individual and enterprise users across the world," said Greg Reinacker, founder and CTO of NewsGator. "Through our relationship with Microsoft and our synchronization capabilities, we can extend the benefits of RSS to a range of devices and platforms, giving the user full control of how and when they view their RSS feeds, while at the same time utilizing the strengths of Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7."

"Incorporating rich support for RSS into the Windows platform is a key initiative because RSS represents the future of how people will find, consume and distribute content," said Dean Hachamovitch, General Manager of the Internet Explorer team at Microsoft Corp. "Microsoft and NewsGator are working together to create a richer experience for consumers, enterprises and developers by making RSS easier to use across the desktop, the Web and mobile devices."
