Nexia Holdings, Inc.: Event Management Is Big Business

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwired - Oct 20, 2014) - Nexia Holdings, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: NXHD), parent company of Lantern Fest LLC and Slide the City LLC, have a full slate of potential events on the schedule.

On http://www.slidethecity.com well over 100 prospective cities are laid out as targets for Slide the City events in the United States and Canada. On http://www.thelanternfest.com well over 100 prospective cities are laid out as well for The Lantern Fest events in the United States and Canada.

"The idea behind the ambitious schedule of events over the coming year is to brand Slide the City and The Lantern Fest in numerous cities setting the stage for each of these events to be the market leaders in those territories. A number of strategies will be employed to reach the objective of branding ourselves in so many diverse markets. The objective of becoming a market leader is critical for a host of reasons," says Richard Surber, CEO.

Mr. Surber continued, "I encourage Nexia's shareholders to research what has happened over the last decade with regard to the business of event management. It is a huge business with huge opportunities. I have firsthand knowledge as a recreational triathlete and runner of those athletic events. I have competed in well over 100 athletic events over the last 8 years. I have personally seen participation swell. Every time I compete in an Ironman or Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon, I run the numbers in my head based upon my entry fees which exceed $250."

USA Triathlon says that the sporting event is seeing double digit growth. It attracted nearly 2 million participants in 2011, up nearly 60% in only three years. Similarly, The Outdoor Foundation indicates that adventure racing grew by more than 18% from 2009 to 2010. Tougher Mudder alone grew from 17,000 participants in 2010 to 700,000 in 2013.

Chicago, Illinois-based Red Frog Events, which hosts the Warrior Dash challenge, also puts on Delaware's Firefly Music Festival and the American Beer Classic, where attendees sample American beers on Chicago's Soldier Field. Red Frog's Stephanie Mezzano, in an 2013 article by Gabrielle Karol, said that Red Frog expected to take in more than $50 million in revenue for 2013.

Richard Surber concluded, "although there are parallels to these other events, Slide the City and The Lantern Fest are distinguishable from athletic events. For one, you do not need to be an athlete which means that nearly everyone can participate, which I believe will translate into a potentially larger market."
