NEXT Biometrics Introduces World's First Embedded Fingerprint Module

BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwired - Feb 22, 2016) - NEXT Biometrics Group ASA (OAX: NEXT) today introduced the world's first embedded fingerprint sensor module, the NB-1411-S, a complete embedded module designed for integration into a range of new mass market applications. NEXT unveiled its new embedded module at the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona, Spain, this week.

Tore Etholm-Idsoe, CEO of NEXT Biometrics, the Norway-based leader in high-quality low-cost fingerprint sensors, said, "For the first time, the market is offered a full size, high quality fingerprint sensor solution combined with embedded processing, and all done at a low cost."

The NEXT CEO said, "We expect the 1411-S to open a range of new volume markets for fingerprinting. Now, developers can integrate these secure and convenient modules with specifications strong enough to be used by close to 100% of a given user group. This is key in applications like a key fob, remote control or a token, where there is no pin-code or password offered as a backup. Just as important is the fact that we can offer all this at cost levels compatible with what these markets can sustain."

NEXT Biometrics said details, applications and technical specifications of the 1411-S Embedded Fingerprint Module are posted on the NEXT website here: http://nextbiometrics.com/filarkiv/pdf/product_brief_nb-1411-s_2016-02-19_web.pdf. The new 1411-S is also on display at NEXT's company booth: Hall 6, Stand 6H20 at MWC.

NEXT said examples of applications of the 1411-S Embedded Fingerprint Module include: Remote Controls; Tokens; Portable Hard Drive; Time & Attendance Terminals; Door Locks; Physical Access Controls; Safety Boxes and Smart Card Readers.
