Next-Generation BroadLogic Silicon Helps MSOs Reclaim Bandwidth, Go All-Digital Without a Network Rebuild

Enhanced TeraPIX Offers Direct-to-Channel Capability That Reduces Costs for Developing New Solutions

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - May 13, 2008) - BroadLogic Network Technologies, a leading provider of silicon solutions for broadband networks, today announced an advanced TeraPIX™, the company's latest multi-channel video processor capable of simultaneously decoding 80 MPEG streams and regenerating a complementary analog and digital service tier. New features that include a direct-to-channel capability will provide cable equipment manufacturers lower implementation costs for single family and multi tenant products. These products will deliver multiple system operators (MSOs) the solutions they need to complement their all-digital strategies while addressing their needs to maintain a differentiated analog programming tier.

The advanced TeraPIX enables manufacturers to cost effectively design whole-home single family and multi tenant residential gateways that will continue to keep the current subscriber experience intact with the delivery of up to 80 high quality analog television channels to their existing analog televisions. The NCTA estimates there are over 30 million analog only households domestically. The advanced TeraPIX also allows for the passing of digital television channels, supporting subscribers who have the need for both analog and digital services.

The feature enhancements of the advanced TeraPIX will let the OEM community assist MSOs in reclaiming valuable spectrum for the delivery of advanced services. The new features will allow for a low cost, seamless integration of analog television services -- all without requiring a network rebuild.

Key New Features

Direct-to-Channel -- The advanced TeraPIX offers a direct-to-channel capability for programming on channels 2-15, reducing the number of RF block up-converters required. This feature alone significantly reduces the bill of materials cost for manufacturers.

FCC Aeronautical Offset -- The advanced TeraPIX internally allows the manufacturer to offset those analog channels required by the FCC mandate for aeronautical offsets, further reducing implementation costs.

"The BroadLogic advanced TeraPIX allows for a simpler, more cost-effective and faster transformation by MSOs that want to offer advanced, differentiated services while satisfying the demands of a significant and diverse customer base," said Danial Faizullabhoy, president and CEO of BroadLogic. "The advanced TeraPIX represents a significant step for cable industry solution manufacturers, driving down their costs and making it easier and simpler for them to innovate around our new silicon."
