Next-Generation Z-Drive 6000 PCIe SSD Series from OCZ Storage Solutions Earns NVMe 1.1b Certification

Compliance to the NVMe Specification Enables Higher Performing PCIe-based SSDs Backed by an Industry Supported Consortium

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - December 09, 2014) - OCZ Storage Solutions -- a Toshiba Group Company and leading provider of high-performance solid-state drives (SSDs) for computing devices and systems, today announced that its next-generation Z-Drive 6000 PCIe SSD Series has successfully passed NVMe compliance testing and are now certified as NVMe-compliant devices by the NVMe Consortium. This includes all Z-Drive 6000 models ranging in usable storage capacities from 800GB up through 6.4TB. Compliance to the NVMe 1.1b standard provides OEMs and third party SSD developers with the confidence that their development efforts will be NVMe-compliant.

The compliance testing was conducted by the NVMe Workgroup at the University of New Hampshire's InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL) as part of a second annual plugfest (an opportunity for vendors to measure their products' compliance to the NVMe 1.1b specification and to test interoperability with other PCIe systems). Designed for both enterprise and client systems that use PCIe-based SSDs, NVMe is an optimized, high-performance, scalable host controller interface with a streamlined register interface and command set. Compliance to the NVMe specification enables the industry as a whole to deliver higher performing PCIe SSDs in the future based on an industry supported consortium backed by over 80 companies worldwide.

"We are pleased to achieve NVMe certification of our upcoming Z-Drive 6000 PCIe Series SSDs which provides customers the validation they need to evaluate our drives," said Daryl Lang, CTO for OCZ Storage Solutions. "We absolutely understand the importance that an OEM places on third party affirmation of such an important decision as qualifying a supplier of high-end PCIe SSDs, and this certification will help provide all of those customers with peace of mind as they receive samples of our cutting edge solution."

At the recent Intel Developers Forum (IDF), OCZ unveiled its next-generation Z-Drive 6000 PCIe SSD Series - native PCIe 3.0 NVMe 1.1b solutions in an easy to deploy 2.5-inch form factor that not only delivers extremely high performance and low latency, but also features a hot-pluggable SFF-8639 connector for easy deployment and superior serviceability. The Z-Drive 6000 Series delivers the complete arsenal of enterprise-class flash data protection through such features as internal RAID, power loss protection, and end-to-end data protection, and is the ideal solution for demanding high compute and mixed workload applications such as High Performance Computing (HPC), Big Data processing and analysis, OnLine Transaction Processing (OLTP), and cloud computing to name a few.

The Z-Drive 6000 is currently sampling to selective customers and expected to be generally available early 2015. Information for OCZ's complete enterprise SSD portfolio is available at www.ocz.com/enterprise.
