Next Wave CONNECT Introduces Online Communities to Facilitate Collaboration on Vital Healthcare Industry Topics

Enterprise Social Networking Communities Enable Healthcare Professionals to Collaborate on Privacy and Security, ICD-10

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - Nov 21, 2013) - Next Wave CONNECT (www.nextwaveconnect.com), provider of the first healthcare industry-specific enterprise social networking application, today announced that it has created online communities to individually address two of the hottest topics in healthcare today: privacy and security, and ICD-10.

These individual communities help members who are working on the same challenges and problems easily connect with each other. The communities are open to all CONNECT members, and are designed to facilitate collaboration within healthcare organizations, as well as between them, in order to solve the industry's toughest challenges. Additional CONNECT communities are being planned for accountable care organizations (ACO), meaningful use and many other topics.

"Privacy and Security is a paramount concern for healthcare personnel charged with protecting patient privacy, the management of health information exchange (HIE), and the sharing of data through electronic health records (EHRs)," said Doug Cusick, vice president of community management for Next Wave CONNECT. "Our Security/Privacy & Compliance community focuses on discussions relating to the challenges met in protecting healthcare information, networks, applications, and end-user devices."

Implementing ICD-10 by the 2014 deadline is another major compliance requirement that all healthcare organization CIOs are racing to meet. The Next Wave CONNECT ICD-10 community is populated with subject matter experts that can facilitate peer-to-peer assistance, helping to advance discussions surrounding this mandate and its rapidly approaching deadline.

"All of our community managers and advisors have spent time in the trenches and understand the unique issues faced by our members every day," said Drex DeFord, Next Wave CONNECT CEO. "A spirit of collaboration is what makes social media the one simple solution to an entire industry's complex problems."

Next Wave CONNECT community members also have access to Advisory Council Experts (ACEs) -- well-known, accomplished healthcare industry professionals who assist members as they work together to crowd-source solutions and best practices.

Next Wave CONNECT builds communities around topics that healthcare professionals care about. The cloud-based, collaborative environment includes professional facilitation and support services for members via a network of community managers and community advisors. Next Wave CONNECT went live on Oct. 8, and has a deeply-committed and growing community of 33 healthcare industry enterprises, comprising over 500 hospitals operating in more than 36 states, as well as Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
