NextG Networks Expands Wireless Connectivity in Santa Barbara Region

Distributed Antenna System Meets Customer Requirements for Improved Mobile Performance

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - December 2, 2010) - NextG Networks, Inc., a leading provider of fiber-fed distributed antenna systems (DAS) that enhance network coverage, capacity and performance for wireless carriers, has announced it has launched DAS service in the City and County of Santa Barbara, California, for a major carrier. NextG, in cooperation with officials and community associations in the Santa Barbara area, has deployed more than 110 DAS sites to significantly increase wireless coverage and capacity in the region to meet customer requirements. The sites conform to the region's strict demands that the small, inconspicuous DAS antennas blend aesthetically with the environment.

The region encompassing Santa Barbara and nearby coastal communities is one of the nation's most rapid adopters of new, mobile broadband devices, such as smartphones. Additionally, with the proximity of one of the state's largest research institutions, the University of California, Santa Barbara, residents are "cutting the cord" and relying more and more on wireless communications. With traditional wireless services infrastructure underequipped to satisfy the coverage and capacity demands of residents in the region, NextG's pole-mounted, fiber-fed antenna solution will support new high-speed data applications and meet the growing needs of mobile wireless customers.
