NextG Networks Receives 2010 4GWE Wireless Backhaul Distinction Award

NextG Recognized for Outstanding Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Deployments, Allowing Wireless Carriers to Quickly and Cost-Effectively Upgrade Networks to Deliver 4G Services

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - November 18, 2010) - NextG Networks, Inc., a leading provider of fiber-fed distributed antenna systems (DAS) that enhance network coverage, capacity and performance for wireless carriers, announced today that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC), a global, integrated media company, in conjunction with Crossfire Media, has presented NextG Networks with the 2010 Wireless Backhaul Distinction Award.

NextG Networks was honored for its industry leadership and innovation enabling wireless carriers to upgrade their networks to 4G (fourth-generation technology) to support the explosive growth of smartphones. NextG's fiber-fed DAS networks were designed to accommodate forward migration to new technologies and new frequency bands. As operators implement 4G wireless services and provide new customer-focused applications, the ease of upgrading their networks and adding capacity to support long-term evolution (LTE) and WiMAX is critical. NextG provides a simple migration for carriers by offering small, dense deployments of DAS sites that can handle dramatic network traffic growth resulting from heavy use of mobile smartphones' multimedia applications such as video, streaming TV, social networking and driving directions.

Anticipating 4G service launches, starting in 2009 most NextG DAS networks have been designed and installed so that adding 4G can be performed as a maintenance upgrade, not an entire network overlay. The NextG DAS networks are designed so they can support multiple operators, which is a particularly attractive feature to universities.

"We are honored to be recognized for our vision and execution in delivering easily-upgraded, forward-migration networks to handle the forthcoming explosion in 4G service traffic," said David Cutrer, CTO of NextG Networks. "We are in the process of upgrading our DAS networks in the top metropolitan areas across the country to provide carriers with the coverage and capacity they need to ensure their customers enjoy anytime, anywhere service."

"NextG Networks deserves the acknowledgment for its achievements in advancing 4G and providing solutions in the marketplace. The NextG DAS solution has proven that its customers have experienced success from utilizing its optical backhaul technologies to convert and transport wireless signals," said Carl Ford, co-founder and community developer, Crossfire Media.

"NextG's DAS has proven its superiority and certainly impressed our panel of judges. It is an honor to grant this award to NextG Networks, and we certainly look forward to more innovative solutions from them in the future," stated Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC.

The 2010 Wireless Backhaul Distinction Award winners are published in the November 4GWE e-newsletter and on the 4GWE web site. For more information, visit www.tmcnet.com.
