NextHop Joins Wi-Fi Alliance, Underscoring Leadership and Commitment to Optimized Wireless Networking

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 26, 2005 -- NextHop Technologies® Inc., the definitive source for network software solutions, today announced that it has joined the Wi-Fi Alliance, a global, non-profit organization devoted to promoting the growth of wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). NextHop is a strong supporter of the WiFi Alliance's inter-operability goals and certification programs.

"NextHop has been committed to providing interoperable networking software solutions to our customers since we were founded in 2000. This is fundamental to what we do -- across our L2 switching, L3 routing, MPLS, and now WLAN software portfolio," said Dennis Tsu, vice president of marketing for NextHop. "With the introduction of our WLAN software solutions this year, and with our initial WLAN customers getting ready to ship product, we want to help them certify their switches and APs through the WiFi Alliance program."

"In becoming a member of the Wi-Fi Alliance, NextHop joins more than 200 companies from around the globe who are committed to delivering interoperable Wi-Fi solutions and ensuring a positive user experience through our Wi-Fi CERTIFIED programs," said Frank Hanzlik, managing director of the Wi-Fi Alliance. "We are pleased to have NextHop become a part of the organization."

NextHop is the first company to provide a merchant WLAN software solution addressing the needs of the enterprise customer. Equipment vendors, original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and original design manufacturers (ODM) companies can now put NextHop's WLAN software solutions onto industry standard hardware platforms -- and ship enterprise class WLAN switching products in less than three months.

The NextHop Dynamic Network Architecture (DNA) integrates solutions for Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 routing, MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching), and WLAN management and control. NextHop's new WLAN solution is composed of two elements, the NextHop Wireless Controller Software (WCS) and the NextHop Wireless Access Point Software (WAPS). NextHop's WCS and L2 solutions can be installed onto hardware platforms from Broadcom, Marvell, and SiNett and provides LAN switching integrated with centralized management and control of a wireless network. The NextHop WAPS can reside on any of several access point (AP) reference hardware designs in current production.
