Nextrials Team Discusses EHR Integration for Clinical Research at CDISC Users Implementation Network

East Coast Educational Event at SAS Discusses Industry Progress Toward Aligning Clinical Research and Healthcare Data Platforms

SAN RAMON, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 30, 2016) - Jim Rogers, CEO and Robert Barr, CTO of Nextrials, Inc., a leader in clinical research software and services, will discuss leveraging electronic health records for clinical study efficiencies at the next meeting of the Washington, DC CDISC Users Implementation Network. The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 31 at the SAS Institute Rockville Training Center in Rockville, MD beginning at 1:00 pm.

Early advocates for aligning clinical data collection platforms with those used for patient information in the healthcare setting, Rogers and Barr will outline the benefits associated with integrated data pools made possible through products such as the company's flagship clinical trial management platform, Prism, and its E2E integration tool. In addition, Rogers and Barr will present a current snapshot of the industry's progress toward complete interoperability and the regulatory considerations of using EHR integration platforms for research.

"At 2016 HIMSS, the healthcare industry pledged to work toward EHR interoperability standards, which has been a major stumbling block toward complete interoperability with clinical trial management platforms," Rogers said. "We're confident that data integration with healthcare records will give clinical researchers faster and cleaner e-source data, resulting in drug development cost efficiencies -- and boost the effectiveness of the continuum of care for patients participating in upcoming trials."

CDISC is a global, open, multidisciplinary non-profit organization that has established standards to support the acquisition, exchange, submission and archive of clinical research data and metadata. Self-formed user networks enable face-to-face interactions among CDISC users to share implementation and learning experiences.
