NFL Teams Top TicketNews' September Events Rankings

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT--(Marketwire - Oct 5, 2011) - National Football League teams swarmed TicketNews' exclusive events rankings for the second consecutive month, claiming seven spots out of the September Top 20, compiled September 1-30.

Leading the NFL were the Dallas Cowboys, ranking fifth overall for September ticket sales. The team sits at 2-2 in the standings going into their bye week, before playing the New England Patriots on October 16. Also representing Texas in the NFL, the Houston Texans were the second highest-ranking team at No. 10.

Rounding out the list of TicketNews-ranked NFL teams were the Green Bay Packers (No. 11), San Diego Chargers (No. 12), Chicago Bears (No. 15), Washington Redskins (No. 18) and Philadelphia Eagles (No. 19).

Outside of sports, the September rankings mark the seasonal debut of holiday favorite the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The rock symphony announced its Winter 2011 Tour in early August, but the first public ticket sales didn't start until September 9. TSO's holiday calendar opens with concurrent concerts on November 11 in Council Bluffs, IA, and Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Events to Watch in October:

  • Boxer Manny Pacquiao, who has a November 12 bout against Juan Manual Marquez in Las Vegas, finished September at No. 16. Sales for that fight are expected to remain strong through October.
  • Despite late-month onsales for his upcoming Back to Bass Tour, Sting finished at No. 8 in TicketNews' event rankings. The tour launches October 21 in Boston and should see solid sales through that date.
  • Major League Baseball is a strong contender for the October rankings as 2011 post-season playoffs continue. The World Series is scheduled to start October 19.
