NGO Celebrates Menstrual Hygiene Day

The Fondation Sénégal Santé Mobile has joined a coalition of organizations to participate in Menstrual Hygiene Day on Saturday, May 28 (http://menstrualhygieneday.org) in Dakar, Sénégal. Menstrual Hygiene Day is being celebrated worldwide. The event is dedicated to helping women and girls with their monthly cycle needs. In 2014, the Fondation launched the Serviettes SantéVie® project and we are sewing cotton reusable menstrual pads in Dakar Senegal.

HERE IN MONTREAL, the Fondation Sénégal Santé Mobile is holding a fundraising dinner, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Ruby Foo's Hotel, 7655 Decarie. The event includes a three-course dinner, storytelling and music. All proceeds will be used to support our May 28 program in Sénégal and to expand the distribution of the Serviettes there. Our entertainers are:

A WORD ABOUT Serviettes SantéVie®: These are reusable and washable menstrual pads made of 100% cotton in our workshop in Senegal. They offer an affordable and healthy alternative to the pieces of material used by many girls and they can be used for at least 2 years. This natural product has been adopted by women, worldwide, that are in interested in natural products and protecting the environment.

A WORD ABOUT THE FONDATION: In August 2009, the Fondation Sénégal Santé Mobile (www.senegalsantemobile.org) was recognized as a registered charity by Revenue Canada and in January 2010 we began our fundraising activities. The Fondation aims to improve maternal and infant care in Senegal. In the past few years we have established partnerships in Senegal. In 2010-2016, the Fondation has sent ten lots of primary care medications to health clinics in Senegal (value of $100,000) and has equipped four birthing centres.
