NGRAIN Awarded $1.2 Million Contract by Airbus

NGRAIN's portable maintenance platform will help the aviation giant improve in-service maintenance

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 3, 2007) - NGRAIN, award-winning provider of 3D performance support solutions, today announced they have been selected for a project worth $1.2 million by Airbus, one of the world's leading aircraft manufacturers. Under this agreement, NGRAIN will integrate their 3D performance support solutions into Airbus' equipment test simulators and in-service maintenance applications.

NGRAIN will be integrated with Airbus' High-Lift Test Rig simulator, used to test wing components and behaviour of various Airbus airplane products. NGRAIN's interactive 3D simulations will help engineers to quickly identify and interpret error messages generated throughout simulated test runs. Error messages and resolution data will be processed in special knowledge databases to support structural health monitoring. Engineers will access the knowledge through the NGRAIN portable maintenance platform for faster and more accurate troubleshooting, resulting in accelerated resolution of in-service problems. NGRAIN is partnering with German system integrator ExxpertSystems GmbH to deliver the project to Airbus.

"We are very excited about the 3D capabilities that NGRAIN will bring to the system. We are always looking for ways to reduce operations and maintenance costs. This demand drives us to pioneer innovative solutions with technology partners such as NGRAIN," said Jens Strahmann, Manager, High Lift Test, Flight Control and Hydraulics, Airbus Deutschland.

Aircraft maintenance is a complex process due to the high volume of parts involved and the safety standards that repairs must follow. As such, quick access to accurate repair procedure and parts information is critically important to maintenance technicians. NGRAIN's portable maintenance platform provides aircraft maintainers with real-time access to equipment information through an intuitive 3D virtual model of the equipment. By reducing the amount of time spent searching for information and ensuring information accuracy, NGRAIN will help Airbus maintainers to improve accuracy and reduce repair turn-around time.

"Through work with our customers in the defence industry, we have found that the integration of interactive 3D simulations helps military organizations lower maintenance costs and improve training. We're excited to help the aviation industry realize these same benefits," said Paul Lindahl, NGRAIN President & CEO. "We are honoured to work with an aerospace leader such as Airbus in applying our 3D performance support solutions to reduce the cost of sustaining aircraft equipment."

NGRAIN transforms the sustainment of complex equipment with 3D performance support solutions for the aerospace and defense industry. NGRAIN increases equipment readiness by accelerating learning on complex equipment, enabling first-time-right performance, and reducing maintenance cycle time.

NGRAIN is optimized for web deployment and portable devices. With NGRAIN, anyone can rapidly incorporate interactive 3D equipment simulations into sustainment applications, including courseware and technical manuals.

Customers include all branches of the United States military, the Canadian Forces, and leading defense manufacturers and system integrators, including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and CAE.
